Christopher Chong

Founding Partner

Prior to co-founding ACH, Christopher Chong was: the CEO of HSBC James Capel (now known as HSBC Securities) Singapore; an executive director of Kay Hian James Capel (now UOB Kay Hian); and a multi award analyst1.


Christopher currently serves as audit committee chairman and/or independent director of 6 public companies listed on the Australian and Singapore stock exchanges.  They include:

  • ASL Marine (shipyard);
  • Cedar Strategic (emerging cities)
  • GLG Corp (textiles);
  • The Great Group (financial services);
  • Singapore O&G Ltd (medical)
  • Ying Li (premium properties);

Christopher had previously also served as on the boards of companies listed on the Australia, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and Singapore.

Christopher is an adviser to many Asian families and some governments in countries ranging from Indonesia in the south to Japan in the north.  Mr. Chong is also on a panel providing advice to the Commercial Affairs Department and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.   Christopher also sat on the advisory board of Temasek’s Institute of Corporate Governance and Stewardship.

Christopher has a BSc (1st) Econ from the University College of Wales, a MBA from the London Business School and was on the Dean’s Honor List during his special secondment to the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago.  He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, a fellow of: the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs; the Australian Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the Australian Institute of Company Directors & the Singapore Institute of Directors; and a Master Stockbroker of the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association of Australia.

1. Mr. Chong won awards for his analysis (Emerging Market Strategy, HK Equities and South East Asian Equities) from 1987 to 1997, the last year in which he completed.
